P.M. Ryan is one of New Zealand's leading Maori language authorities. Among his works are the book and CD coursebooks Reo Maori O Naianei Book 1 and Book 2, The Reed Pocket Dictionary of Modern Maori and P.M. Ryan's Dictionary of Modern Maori. He is chaplain to the marae of the Tamaki Maori Mission in Auckland, and teaches at Hato Petera College.
